We are Team Hammond 71
FIRSTĀ® is a not-for-profit organization
that designs fun, motivational programs to help young people aged 6-18
discover and develop a passion for science, technology, engineering,
and math (STEM) through challenging robotics competitions. The mission
of FIRST is to inspire youth to be the science and technology leaders
of tomorrow by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that
build their skills, inspire innovation, and foster well-rounded life
capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.
Over 250,000 students and 90,000 adult Mentors and Volunteers from more
than 50 countries participate annually. FIRST students qualify for $14
million in college scholarships. All competitions culminate at the annual
FIRST Championship. Many of our students continue on to be engineers,
teachers and also work in the field of medicine.
